An all-class reunion took place on August 25 & 26, 2018 for all years and all classes (7th through 12th grades) that attended Purdys Central High until it closed in June of 1962. The attendees included classmates who had moved on before graduation and eventually graduated from other high schools - including the new North Salem High School that replaced Purdys Central High in the winter of 1962-1963.
Even though Purdys Central closed in 1962, we had attendees from classes that graduated from other schools as late as 1969. And, to the delight of all, we had the pleasure of visiting with Ed Wathley, class of '46 and Mr. Nicholas Tallarico, our music teacher from the '60s! The reunion was a followup to the recent and wildly successful 2012 and 2015 reunions and, a perfect opportunity to again re-connect with old friendships. Including guests, approximately 70 people attended from the hundred or so classmates that were located.
As in the past 2 reunions, we all gratefully thank Ed "Ned" Juengst '60, with assistance of his wife, Claire, for planning and organizing this reunion. This time, Ned and Claire went beyond all expectations in that they handled all the details: arranged for the venue, Saturday night dinner, Sunday afternoon BBQ, alumni contact, managed funds, etc.
Classmates spent the precious time afforded by the 2 day event catching up and reminiscing about that
wonderful place and time we shared a long time ago in our collective history.
