Salemite Yearbook vs. Salemite Newspaper - A bit of history.
"Salemite" is the name given to the annual Purdys Central High yearbook. Historically, a Salemite newspaper & literary publication was usually produced quarterly during the school year beginning when Purdys Central High opened circa 1929. At that time there wasn't a separate Salemite yearbook per se'. The practice of a 4 times-a-year publication schedule seems to have wained, at times, in later decades as the 4th annual issue, eventually the annual yearbook, gained in prominence. In the early 1930's "Issue No. 4", sometimes called the "Senior Issue" or "Commencement Issue" (published in May or June), had a focus on the senior class. It eventually became the now-traditional annual class yearbook filled with pictures of the students and faculty.
