The Purdys Central & North Salem High 2012 REUNION Planners & Organizers
Ned Juengst '60 lived in Arizona. Purdy Outhouse '59 lived in Colorado. Pier "Peter" Guidi '62 lived in New Jersey. The planning for the reunion began about 6 months before it took place. They met face-to-face for the first time at the reunion.
What can we say about our tireless reunion leader: Ned Juengst '60? Ned (some call him Ed) took the bull by the horns and he practically made a career out of locating people using the internet, and doing all the detailed planning for the occasion. He alone located over 300 classmates (an amazing feat considering the average class size was possibly 20!). Ned created and now maintains the definitive list of classmates, their email and postal addresses, etc. Classmates were kept up-to-date with the progress through the many emails that Ned sent. Furthermore, Ned (along with his wonderful wife Claire) visited and chose the hotel we used on Saturday, the restaurant for the Sunday brunch, selected the food, and was the go-to-person who made this whole event happen. A fantastic job that wouldn't have been done without him and his wife Claire.
Pier "Peter" Guidi '62, used his home-grown skills at photo editing and website building to create this Purdys Central High website. He began work on the site a couple years ago but it didn't get into high gear until he posted a "lets do a reunion!" message online and Ned, who had been contemplating a reunion, began work to make it happen. Pier came up with and printed the badges and put together the couple hours long memorabilia slide show that was presented at the reunion from the myriad of yearbooks, news articles and pictures that he has collected. And he became the photographer to capture this memory for all to enjoy in the years to come.
Purdy Outhouse '59, the relentless voice on the phone! Purdy spent countless hours on the phone (making over 800 phone calls!) calling everyone - drumming up the excitement of this reunion as only he can do, locating other classmates who we would otherwise never find. The ultimate telemarketer for sure! And, Purdy was able to arrange for our visit to the old Purdys Central High building, now the Westchester Exceptional Children's School.
